How was everyone’s Christmas? Was it as full of joy as Ol’ Saint Nick himself?
Over in my end it was lovely. Time with family is always great, even when timing gets a little changed due to cancelled flights. But after years of little airline drama, I knew it had to come to an end sometime.
As we round out this Christmas year with throwing away wrappings and kissing relative’s cheeks, let’s look back at the Instagram challenge I did this month to relive all the cheer!Read More
I love Christmas. I love Christmas so much that I’m basically bursting with sugar cookie sugarplums and Christmas carols all month long!
For the last few years I have done an Instagram challenge for 25 days of December with a holiday/Chrsitmas theme because what better way to celebrate the best time of the year!
This year’s challenge begins tomorrow, December 1st. It will continue until the 25th. The objective? To complete as many of the days as you can. And it’s pretty easy considering some days are Choose Your Own. What do you do? Post a photo with that day’s theme and use the hashtag #EnthusiastChristmas. If you use the hashtag I can find your photos!
I’ve been doing this challenge for so long now that I always look forward to it! Here’s some photos from past years:
#EnthusiastHoliday15 Day 2: Christmas sweater Channeling my inner @zozeebo with a red lip because it matches my festive holiday sweater 🎄🎅🏻
#EnthusiastHoliday15 Day 12: Christmas countdown Only 12 more days until Santa comes to visit!
#EnthusiastHoliday15 Day 3: Nutcracker My collection of Nutcrackers is so dear to me and I’m so excited to unveil my new Drama Queen Nutcracker!
11: Santa Hat – Ho ho ho it’s Covington!
12: Christmas Dish – Love this snowman mug I bought with @katy_suzie last year!
Day 1: Red Starbucks cup
See, pretty easy! And this year I’m so excited because I’m doing the challenge in Portland this year!
Here are the 25 Days of Christmas Enthusiasm day themes, to be followed:
I hope you’ll along and keep up with #EnthusiastChristmas, but if you don’t, check out my Instagram @PotatoesHegarty to see what fun I’m up to all December long!

A week off of blogging meant I spent the week with family and friends celebrating the jolliest time of the year and reconnecting with my favourite people.
Christmas is seriously the best time of the year, which is why celebrating it makes me so happy! It’s more than just cranberry treats and opening gifts, it’s joy to all and kindness in our souls. The holiday season means opening your heart to everyone and focusing on what is really important.
Whether you belong to a denomination or not, I hope that the Christmas season fills you with joy and love. Hopefully you baked some cookies, played Christmas music, spent quality time with friends and family, and enjoyed some time off from the grind. We all need that in our lives, even if only for a short while.Read More
With only a little over a week until the jolliest day of the year is upon us, it’s time to put away the hot chocolate, lace up our L.L. Bean duck boots, and get shopping. There are too many people on your gift list to put it off any longer. Yes, I am looking at you, procrastinator-student-workaholic relative.
And once you get shopping it is hard to know exactly what to get everyone on the list. People are different and buying gifts for them is more than just raiding the $3 section of Target. That’s why gift guides are a beautiful thing that just about no one takes advantage of. Don’t know what to get your sister? There’s about 40 million gift guides that cater exactly to your sister’s needs.
The Enthusiast’s gift guide is for everyone on your list. Mom, Dad, brother, sister, best friend, significant other, that neighbour who gives you pocket money for cleaning dog poo out of their yard, etc. They are gifts that work for any kind of person and your shopping will now take less than an hour. And you don’t even have to pull on your duck boots.
As is the case every year, my Month of Christmas: Christmas Tag is back! This is the third year I’m doing it and I’m really excited because it means that The Enthusiast’s Month of Christmas is finally here!
Last year I made my own ‘Christmas Tag‘ and it’s just making it’s comeback as we all get into the holiday spirit. And because sometimes jumping on the band wagon is a good idea (especially since I started this particular tag) I thought it would be a good idea to redo my Christmas tag again, and see if I have anything new. So let’s start!
The Christmas Tag, Part Deux
1. What is your favourite Christmas film?
Just like it has been for the last five or six years, it is still “Love Actually.”
2. Have you ever had a white Christmas?
Yes! Surprisingly this year it has been snow-free (and I love it!) but usually it snows up here in Oregon.
3. Where do you usually spend your holiday?
At home with the family, where it always should be!Read More
When I was a child, I used to think of growing up. I used to imagine living on my own and coming back during holidays and thinking, “Yes, I’m here now, but I need to jet back to my own fabulous life. Was so nice seeing you!”
Now I am an adult and, let me tell you, my imagined adulthood is very inaccurate.
After being away from home for two months due to university, I’ve found myself enjoying my new life, but missing those back home dearly. So this week has been all about me reacquainting myself with all my lovelies and such. And gaining 100 lbs. on Thanksgiving.
