As July draws to a close and we watch the days turn hot and the nights turn long (seriously, does anyone fall asleep before midnight anymore?) I find myself in a little slump. I’m exhausted by 3 o’clock, my appearance is whack, and I find myself monotonous with work.
BUT THAT’S GONNA CHANGE!
My goal this week was to focus on things that made my life crummy, such as the aforementioned above. This Favourites Friday focuses on the things this week that brought a smile to my face, made long days of work worth it, and kept me from looking like a homeless bum walking into a business. It’s truly been a week, but with everything below, I made it work.
Let’s find out what these amazing favourites were…Read More
As I look at my calendar I notice that midterms are coming, and that means there are projects and tests galore. And as someone who loves to listen to a good tune while strapped down with my laptop and class notes, I figured it was time I put together a playlist for midterm studying. And who better to share it with than you guys?
Morgan Does Midterms: A Playlist
No Good For You – Meghan Trainor
Uptown Funk – Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars
Good morning, Enthusiasts! Of course, this depends on your time zone, but if you’re from the Pacific Northwest, I hope you’re having a fantastic morning. Rest of the world, how’s your day going?
I’m spending my morning in my lovely new bed (it’s ginormous and so comfortable. I’m amazed I ever leave it.) because I’ve walked so much the past few days that I’m afraid my legs might fall off. The elevator in my building is still not up, so I have to walk five flights of stairs several times daily. Yes, I do deserve a day in bed.
While I sit here enjoying my morning, I thought it was proper time I shared this week’s Song Saturday! The inspiration behind this week was the music playing while I was unpacking my apartment. The list is probably quite different from what I’ve been doing the last few weeks, but I hope it will solidify my point of “Morgan listens to basically anything as long as it has a good beat or rocking instrumental.”
Morgan’s Good Beat/Rocking Instrumental Playlist
1. Check Yes, Juliet – We the Kings
I’m pretty sure anyone my age who hears this song immediately thinks of middle school. This was basically a staple of 8th grade. I’ll play this song whenever and wherever, and when I do people always say, “I love this song!” It’s an essential piece of music for everyone. It’s just rocking and the lyrics are cool. Needs to be on everyone’s playlist.Read More
Hola Enthusiasts! I am back and in action after a seriously awesome vacation! My face broke out, I gained weight from onion rings, and my feet hurt from so much walking. So you know it was a good holiday!
If you live under a rock, you may be unaware of where I’ve been the past few days: LA. My bestest buddies and I decided (okay, there were 9 months of planning) to head down to LA for a few days of intense awesomeness. There was making enemies with fangirls, seeing a handful of amazing artists in six hours, and spending way too much time in airports. Pretty much the perfect vacation, huh? So, in true Musing Mondays fashion, I am going to be reflecting on this wondrous holiday in a play-by-play of my LA trip. (Warning: this post is ridiculously full of info, so sorry in advance for writing a novel. I promise it’s in equal awesomeness to Hunger Games.)
Cali Trip 2k14
(aka, the time I spent a lot of time with attractive boys on stage)
Wednesday was the day it all kicked off! A 3am wake up call started the day for a car trip with the ever favourite Alex. The morning was uneventful, unless you count me kneeling in a dress scrambling to find my plastic liquids bag, or the TSA agent delivering me my scarf in a doggie bowl.
I forgot my scarf at TSA and they brought it to me in a little bowl #princess
Hiya Enthusiasts! It’s finally the weekend! I’ve had such a fantastic week, but I’m definitely ready to get some Saturday snoozies in. And of course that means I need some good tunes to fall asleep to!
In honour of my seeing One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer mere days ago, this week’s Song Saturday is going to be my top five songs from each in hopes of turning you all into fans. Enjoy!Read More
It’s Saturday! Happy weekend! To celebrate the weekend (and to give me some good jams while I pack up for my Cali trip on Wednesday) here are my songs from the week that have just kept me going. I’ve been so busy putting together two weeks of Everyday Enthusiasm, plus the regular life things, so I’ve needed stuff that’s going to keep me pumped up, even when I’m in dire need of caffeine.
Let Song Saturday begin!
5 Songs to Get You Through the Weekend
1. Somebody to You – The Vamps feat. Demi Lovato
Somebody take me to a The Vamps concert, I beg of you!Read More
OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS GUYS! It’s been a year of me anticipating this, but the 5 Seconds of Summer self-titled album is finally out! Released yesterday on iTunes, it’s been on replay on my iPod because it’s pretty much musical genius! From reading the articles the boys (4 talented Aussie boys) have put out, they have put so much effort into this album and it definitely shows. I’ve been looking forward to sharing this review because of how much I’ve anticipated this album being released. When it released (9pm PST for me) I was in a car and containing my enthusiasm was a bit difficult. I mean, I am an enthusiast, enthusiasm cannot be contained!
So, please join me as I listen to the 5SOS album and share my thoughts with you all. And make sure to buy it to support these hard working, talented boys (that I may or may not be seeing in 50 days) by purchasing their album here.
“5 Seconds of Summer” by 5 Seconds of Summer
1. She Looks So Perfect
Many music critics have called this song the perfect song for summer, and I would have to agree. It’s catchy, has that perfect amount of rock, and the lyrics make you second guess and laugh. What more do you need in a summer hit? American Apparel is probably feeling like hot patootie after their name drop in the song, and I know I now have the overwhelming need to wear a diamond ring and board a plane! This song is everything that is fun and young and emotionally angsty enough for anyone under the age of 25. (It’s also Morgan’s dad approved.)
The time has come again for a little Q&A, where I answer the questions that have been littering my inbox for weeks now.
Tell us about a crush you’ve had.
This is so embarrassing. Seriously, this guy probably has no idea I had a crush on him for six years. Then again, it wasn’t like I was super obvious about it because I could barely speak in his presence.. I had this crush on this guy who I went to middle & high school with and I still think he’s adorable when he shows up on my Facebook newsfeed. But yeah, I used to punch him in the shoulder because I thought it was cute. It was not. I used to get very flustered in his presence. It was unattractive. I don’t think it was until I was a senior in high school that I finally put on my big girl panties and actually had a normal conversation with him without awkwardly melting into a puddle. Yeah, crush-y Morgan is not exactly girl power Morgan.
I don’t understand the BLS/BBS thing.
Meet Haley, my Blogging Little Sis. Basically, Haley is another blogger on this awesome Internet thing. Haley and I have had quite a bit of interaction through Twitter and Huffington Post Teen and it led to me mentoring her (called a Blogging Big Sis). Of course, I’ve grown to love her as my blogging buddy and so we’ve started a little family. She’s so supportive of everything I’ve done and I am the same way with her. She’s also absolutely hilarious and our chats are fantastic. So yeah, the BLS/BBS thing is two girls working together to change the world one blog post at a time.Read More
I am part of many a fandom as you all know, and because of that I am always on the internet searching for news about tv shows, movies, bands, books, etc. Because of this, I am always coming across amazing fan art, hilarious gif sets, and mildly inappropriate dreams of teenage girls. I love being in fandoms because the people are all bonding over a similar interest and everything is good!
Except for last night.
Last night I experienced something that made me almost physically sick. And as someone who does not involve herself in fandom drama because it is pointless, I have to take a stand now. I’m sorry, but what I experienced is not okay.
First off, the fact that this trended makes me ridiculously upset. No, this is not okay. At all. Ashton Irwin is a real person with real feelings and you cannot do that. Telling someone to harm themselves, whether they are famous or not, is the most inhumane thing you can do. And it’s deplorable. To anyone who used this hashtag, please get some therapy and get some major detox time. You obviously need an attitude adjustment. Second, this is unnecessary. If you’re upset with what someone does, take it up with them personally, do not hide behind your computer screen. And third, Ashton Irwin is a little piece of sunshine, so back off!Read More
What band has two million Twitter followers, sold out tours, toured with the world’s hottest boy band, and no album? 5 Seconds of Summer!
5 Seconds of Summer, a.k.a. 5SOS (five sauce) ~ an Australian rock band that has melted their way into our hearts and musical souls.
That’s it. We’re finally going to discuss the adorable Australian band that has officially reached VEVO status. Why? Because I am ridiculously baffled/proud of their success and I think it is time to discuss. This is also my blog and I like to discuss my enthusiasms.
Why 5SOS Should Be Your Favourite Band (And Your Favourite People on the Planet)
Earlier this week 5 Seconds of Summer released their first single. While 5SOS has released music before, this is their first actual single before their album release later this year. The single is called “She Looks So Perfect” and is responsible for American Apparel’s recent spike in underwear purchases. It is a bloody brilliant track. Give it a listen
