Phoebe in Wonderland (2008)
An enchanting story about a young girl who tries to cope with her Tourette’s with the magic of Looking Glass Land, her mother, and a mysterious theater teacher.
This is honestly one of the best films I’ve ever seen. It’s going in my Top Ten. I’m a big Elle Fanning fan and saw this film purely on curiosity. It was worth every minute. Phoebe, who seems to be an odd little girl, is cast into the part of Alice in her school play. As she worries about being fired, she sees characters from the story appear all around to give her hope. It’s later revealed that Phoebe has Tourette’s and that’s why she seems so odd. The film is breath-taking and curious, just like the original story of Alice in Wonderland. It’s a great film for people who are open-minded and creative, because they will see so much more in the gorgeous world the film creates.
Would I recommend this film? A thousand times yes! But only to certain people. It’s one of those films where you need a certain mind set to really appreciate it.
