Favourites Friday No. 109

You know weeks where everything that seems to be able to go wrong goes wrong? That was my week. From feeling overwhelmed by projects to starting to feel sick to just general fatigue, I’ve been fighting against the current all week.

As someone who prides themselves on succeeding in the ashes of failure, I was working hard. A nasty allergic reaction last week left me with problematic, funky skin. PMS has me emotional and exhausted. Work {and all of my other projects} has me overtaxed. And from my visit with my mom this weekend, I may have caught her cold. The result of all of these is feeling like I’m behind – something I can’t stand. In these weeks, instead of feeling crappy, I remind myself that I’m doing the best I can and that taking a step back is where i find my success.

This week’s favourites are things that turned my crappy week into a success, where I’m ending it feeling a little less bleh and a little more positive.

A Little More Positive: A Favourites Friday

1. LUSH Celestial Moisturizer

After a nasty reaction to a different LUSH moisturizer last week, I was a little wary. But the good people of LUSH walked me through the whole process of curing my rash and finding something more suitable for my oily, sensitive skin. They recommended this moisturizer and I LOVE IT. I may have found my holy grail moisturizer. Not only did it cure my rash in record time, my skin is glow central. My skin has never felt so healthy or looked so fresh. If you’re looking for a new moisturizer, I highly recommend trying this.

2. Trader Joe’s Green Thai Curry Simmer Sauce

Because of my fairly limited diet (no gluten, dairy, or meat) I’ve been mainly living off brown rice, veggies, and fish for my meals. It’s been great, but gets boring after a while. Then I found this amazing curry sauce last week and it has made eating a whole new adventure. It’s creamy, a little spicy, and insanely tasty. Simply pour a bit over whatever you’re making and you’ve suddenly become gourmet. It made feeling crummy a little less crummy.

While I stopped using normal face cleansers a while ago, I always like to have one for emergencies. It’s incredibly gentle and didn’t dry out my skin at all, even with the rash. It’s become a perfect go-to for days when I’m super oily or when I don’t feel like going through my whole skincare routine.

4. Starbucks Citrus Defender

Like most people, I do not do well sick. So when I started to feel a little tickle and a lot of snot, I started picking up one of these bad boys every morning. I stand by this drink {and the Medicine Ball} because I truly do believe it cures illness. And sure enough, I’m feeling perfectly healthy this sunny Friday morning.
