Spring brings with it more than just flowers and showers. Think graduations, patio dinners, and spring sports. With all these new events going on, keeping your shoe game appropriate for the situation and weather is important.
Below is a list of shoes that can take you through whatever the season throws at you next.
For Walking at Graduation
The perfect shoe for graduation – depending on where you live – is a good chunky heel or wedges. Something that won’t get stuck in grass and elongates your legs. I almost bought these Steve Madden heels for my own graduation. The chunky heel will give lots of support and the heel isn’t too tall. Plus, they come in several colours to go with whatever horrible polyester colour your robe is.
For Attending a Graduation
Graduations usually mean sitting for long periods of time in the heat. To avoid any sweaty feet choose a light, flat sandal that allows the foot to breathe and gives room for any swelling. These sandals are fun and will get you through everything from the ceremony to all the parties after.
For Walks in the Park
What I love most about spring is that the weather is finally nice, making it perfect for taking walks after brunch with friends. Here in Portland, that usually means enjoying the waterfront, but can extend to other parks. A simple espadrille sandal with a fun character gives a simple blouse and jeans so much meaning, and is comfortable as you walk off your eggs benedict.
For a Bistro Lunch
Meeting friends for lunch is a pastime I rarely get to indulge in, as I’m normally running to grab a bite to eat between running work errands and meetings. But if I were to be able to meet friends, a loafer is always a classic. And for spring there are lots of sweet pastel colours to choose from.
For Watching Sports
Time to get sporty! Growing up I was always at sport games, whether it was to watch my brother play golf or cheering my friends at tennis. I believe a pair of good, white sneakers are perfect for a sporting event, as they provide a clean aesthetic and comfort for cheering.
For Dinner on the Patio
Dinner is always an opportunity to dress up. A cute lace-up heel is flirty and pairs with the warmer weather. Pair them with a flowing dress and it’s the perfect outfit for a lovely night, watching the sun set over a nice glass of wine.
