An Enthusiastic Day in the Life

One thing I love about being in my early twenties is that my life is constantly changing. A year ago I was in school, living with a group of girls and trying to cram homework and socializing in whenever I could. Six months ago I was living at home with my parents spending most of my day dogsitting our enormous Labrador puppy. And now I’m working full-time and living in suburban Portland.

Lots of change.

A Day in the Life

With all these changes I have watched my daily routine change. It’s interesting to see how I arrange my schedule around what life is throwing around me to still accomplish everything I need to and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.

Today I thought I would share my daily routine in order to get everything done, while still enjoying my youth.

A Day in My {Enthusiastic} Life

Irish breakfasts and rainy mornings 🥔

Morning

  • After my alarm wakes me up I immediately jump into the shower to wake up and think about positivity and what a great day I will have. I found this mentality helps me to feel more optimistic throughout the day, and not planning out my day doesn’t stress me out before 6am.
  • While I wait for my hair to dry, I make myself a breakfast of either hardboiled eggs and fruit, avocado toast, or a smoothie. Breakfast is always dependent on my mood.
  • After eating, I get dressed and do my hair and beauty routine.
  • Before I leave my apartment, I make tea for my traveler mug and open the blinds in my apartment so that light can get to the plants on my sill.

Mid-Morning

  • I always have Trader Joe’s trail mix or fruit at my desk to munch on between meetings and various tasks.

Noon

  • I nearly always go home for lunch. I live near my office and I find that the one hour away from my office helps to relax me, especially if I’ve had a rough morning. I normally make either a chicken, salsa, and avocado bowl for lunch, or have leftovers. It’s very important that I have protein for lunch.
  • While home, I normally read while eating, and if I have time I sort laundry or another chore to make the afternoon a little easier.

Afternoon

  • After work I go out and run any errands I need to. I’ll drop by Trader Joe’s for groceries, or hit a shop for an item I need.
  • I like to use this time for appointments or for meeting friends. If I had my way, I’d use this time to meet friends downtown for happy hour every day.
  • Once home I will finish any chores, like laundry or washing dishes or general cleaning. As I’ve gotten more into meal prep, I will often take this time to make food for the next day if needed.
  • If there’s nothing else, I’ll grab my laptop and sit in my chair by the window and write for the blog.

Evening

  • After a lovely dinner – I love the fact I’ve started cooking more – I will wash all the dishes.
  • I’ll spend the rest of my evening watching TV with a cup of tea and relax.
  • Before getting ready for bed, I will do about 15-25 minutes of yoga because I find it helps me digest better and sleep better.
  • Wash my face, brush teeth, and moisturize before slipping into bed and reading on my tablet before lights out.

And that’s my routine! Very simple and lots of space for when I need to arrange things. Let me know what you think in the comments!
