I love food.
My family makes fun of me for how much I love food (and openly express it) but I truly do. I believe that the right food can make anything better. And in this week, with my own personal stresses and the nation’s current turmoil, it was time to use good food to lift my mood.
This week I had the pleasure of having my mom in town to take me to Costco, so I was able to treat myself to some things that I normally don’t get to have. And it was so worth it. Here’s what I ate this week!
Good Mood Food: A Favourites Friday
This rice is amazing! It has lots of flavour, plus a bunch of healthy stuff to keep you from enjoying it too much. I love pairing it with chicken or P.F. Chang’s Beef & Broccoli from the freezer section. I recommend this for anything who needs a quick side for dinner.
Yum! I love this on bagels in the morning. Not too sweet and plenty creamy, this cream cheese is perfect as the weather is cooler in the mornings and we need some comfort to start the day.
Dark chocolate and mangoes – my two favourite things. And together they are a chewy, sweet treat that is a perfect compliment after any meal. Or for when you’re watching election results nervously. This are going to be a staple in my pantry.
Anyone who knows me knows I love tamales. They are what I order at a Mexican restaurant 90% of the time. And this week I had them for dinner and breakfast! A tamale is always the perfect food for any time and I’m so glad I still have eight left in my freezer.
5. Almond milk
All my lactose intolerant pals say hey! Almond milk is the perfect alternative. I’ve been drinking vanilla almond milk on a daily basis and it honestly adds so much great flavour to everything I eat. Add it to scrambled eggs and the sweet/salty combination is truly amazing. Gotta have my almond!
