A little over a year ago I finally got into makeup (I used to be adverse to even Chapstick) and since then it’s become a myriad of online Sephora trips and several hours in drugstore hours tying to find the perfect red lipstick.
Earlier this year I gave a sneak peek into my makeup bag and decided that as my collection is now spilling out of my bag, it was time I shared it with the lot of you. From the creams to the tubes, here’s everything I’ve been smearing on my face recently.

The Updated Enthusiast Makeup Bag
My skin is something I’ve worked on for years, and it has taken a lot of time and products to figure out what makes my skip that matte/dewy look I like and to cover my discolored skin and perennial acne. And yes, I am a big lover of e.l.f. for my skin right now.
bareMinerals Matte Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15 ($28.50) in Fairly Medium – I have used this since I was in high school, it is literally the best
e.l.f. Cosmetics Under Eye Conceal & Highlighter ($3) in Light/Glow – for how cheap it is, it works just as well as some of the cult-favourite concealers I’ve tried
One thing I am complimented on quite a bit is for my cheek colour, which is mostly because I love adding colour to my cheeks! Whether it’s a peachy blush for lunch with friends or a bronze glow for a concert or a rose gold highlighter for class, I am all about the colour!
e.l.f. Cosmetics Blush ($3) in Blushing Rose – the most natural colour blush I have ever tried, I will always have this in my bag
The Beauty Crop Lighting Crew Highlighting Cream ($18) in Pink – a perfect rosy highlight that I literally wear 90% of the time
Tarte Showstopper Clay Palette ($40) – I use the bronzer, highligher, and blush almost on a daily basis and it’s perfect for summer
M brows, which are naturally straight and kind of wonky without proper care, are one of my favourite features because they are bold and dark. I like them to look natural and defined, so I don’t use too much product on them. And I brush them out with an old mascara wand because I am cheap and works great.
Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow-Volumizing Fiber Gel ($24) in Medium – honestly the best brow gel I’ve ever used
While on a regular day I usually smudge some dark eyeshadow at my lashline for some eye definition, eyeliner is great for when I have special events. I can’t apply eyeliner to save my life, but that doesn’t keep me from having a few in my bag.
theBalm Mr. Write (Now Eyeliner) ($17) in Scott B. Bordeaux – the colour of this makes my blue-grey eyes pop and it is very easy to apply
I love eyeshadow palettes because they are truly so beautiful. While I don’t wear it every day, when I’m going to a concert or heading out to the bar I love to rock a smoky eye or if I’m meeting friends for brunch I love a neutral rosy eye.
NARS Night Series Eyeshadow ($25) in Night Flight – honestly the best eyeshadow, it blends so easily and feels like silk
Tarte Showstopper Clay Palette ($40) – the eyeshadows are so great, I’m literally in love with each of them and how easy they blend and work for any and every occasion
Maybelline The Blushed Nudes Eyeshadow Palette ($9.99) – this palette works with every look and I love the darker purple colours
I may have a small mascara obsession. A lush, curled, lengthy mascara is exactly what I love. And what I have currently in my makeup bag is only a small fraction of how many mascaras I usually have (trying to avoid buying a new makeup bag). I’m also open for brown mascara suggestions!
e.l.f. Cosmetics Volumizing & Defining Mascara ($2) in Jet Black – my all-time favourite mascara ever, and will continue to be forever
Maybelline Volum’ Express Falsies Big Eyes Waterproof Mascara ($7.99) in Very Black – I am 100% wearing this mascara in every photo because that small brush gets every lash and makes them pop!
I never liked wearing anything on my lips growing up, but now I have to have something to feel complete. I love a good matte lip, and as you can see, wine reds, plums, and pale pink are my babies.
Rimmel London Lasting Finish by Kate Moss ($5.49) in Matte (107 and 111) and Satin (017) – 107 is my favourite lipstick to wear and I receive so many compliments when I wear it
e.l.f. Day to Night Lipstick Duo ($5) in The Best Berries – this has been my go-to lately because I can change between the two during the day without overcrowding my purse, and the colours are crazy great
stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick ($24) in Beso and Pantina – these literally stay all day and don’t dry out my lips. i want them in every colour
TreStique Matte Color & Shiny Balm ($28) in Florence Fig/Rose Balm – this colour is crazy flattering
e.l.f. Cosmetics Lip Balm Tint ($2) in Berry – perfect for a sheer wash of colour you never have to worry about streaking or fading while you eat
