Get me through finals.

We’re all thinking it, and as I sit here I am a week away from being done with spring term and heading home for a week of awesome! My little brother is graduating, I get to see family, and it’s free food, so who am I to complain? But until I can get there I have to deal with finals, which means quite a bit of complaining.

As I begin to start/edit/finish my final projects (which include two 2,000 word feature articles and a 15 page website redesign) I would like to give my guide on exactly what tricks and tools will get you to the finish line. And trust me, as someone who wrote seven essays in four days last term, I know what I’m talking about.

This week’s favourites are all the wonderful little things I use to keep me motivated and sane when life is just a little too insane. May they keep you as level-headed as you were Week One.

The Finals Week Insanity Kit: A Favourites Friday

1. Iced chai tea latte

Lavender chai tea concentrate.  Great without the lavender!  Can easily sub in coconut or other flavors for a twist, but good as is.:

If you don’t like coffee but plan on going to bed late and waking up early, some chai tea is your best bet. So making yourself a delicious iced chai latte in the morning (and possibly after dinner) is going to ensure that you keep running all day and your brain is focused on getting those finals done! Look on the internet for homemade recipes, or if you’re lazy pick up one from your favourite coffee shop. My tip: Order it with soy milk and some nutmeg on top, it’ll make all the difference!

This cookie dough is amazing! Seriously, it is so delicious. It’s white, milk, and dark chocolate combined in yummy, sugary dough that I can munch on while working on projects for that much needed sugar rush. Or you could bake cookies, but who has time for that during finals? While I usually try to eat healthy during finals, this little perfection is exactly what I need to keep me from chopping off my overworked head.

 

5. Sweatshirts

I don’t care what anyone says, a sweatshirt is the wardrobe essential for finals. Pair it with leggings, go to class. Pair it with jeans, go to work. Pair it with shorts, work on paper. Pair it with pj bottoms, go to bed. If you aren’t wearing a sweatshirt, you aren’t doing finals right.
