As is the case every year, my Month of Christmas: Christmas Tag is back! This is the third year I’m doing it and I’m really excited because it means that The Enthusiast’s Month of Christmas is finally here!
Getting into the holiday spirit just isn’t the same without a Christmas tag, and I’m much too happy answering festive, happy, Christmas-filled questions in blog post form! December really is a time to get into the holiday spirit and I like to take every opportunity I can to fill Christmas in whatever cracks I can. I even waited until December 1st this year, so I’m itching for some Xmas! This time of year is so special to me and I love that this is the fourth year I get to spend it with my lovely followers and we can all celebrate this beautiful little community of Enthusiasts we’ve created. And we have a whole month to celebrate!
Month of Christmas Cheer Christmas Tag: 2015 Edition
What is your favourite Christmas film?
The Holiday. I find much too much enjoyment in Mr. Napkin Head and it’s truly a beautiful seasonal film, even if it isn’t a Christmas film exactly. If we’re talking Christmas film, it would be The Santa Clause because those films are what I grew up on and I love them!
Have you ever had a white Christmas?
Living in the Rocky Mountains, it was hard not to. But I’d do anything for snow right now!
Where do you usually spend your holiday?
At home with family and friends, causing ruckus in Eastern Oregon with my girls and our candy cane crazy minds. This year I will be spending a few days in Portland, and I’m excited to do things like the Zoo Lights because that’s very rare for a small town girl like me.
What is your favourite Christmas song?
Hasn’t changed and never will. Love Actually‘s “All I Want For Christmas is You” is phenom.
Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
Of course! We have the time-honoured tradition of PJ unwrapping on the eve of Christmas and I love it.
Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?
Comet, Vixen, Rudolph (does he count?), Dasher, Prancer…does he have more?
What holiday traditions are you most looking forward to this year?
That blurry photo though…
For the last few years I’ve had an annual Christmas party with some gal friends and I’m really looking forward to it. I’m graduating this summer and once I get into the workforce, long three week vacations are going to be a luxury. Getting to spend some time with my girls and eating cookies and singing Christmas karaoke is going to be really special to me this year and I can’t wait!
Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
Real, even though I’m worried that the dog might eat it this year.
What is your all-time favourite holiday food/sweet treat?
Starbuck’s Cranberry Bliss Bars. They’re only around this time of year and I love every last bite of them. There’s something about the sweet and the bitter that just makes them my favourite thing to eat once Christmas rolls around.
Be honest: Do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?
The older I get, the more I enjoy giving gifts. I am so blessed to have a wonderful support group of family and friends and giving them gifts that I know they will love makes me so happy. While getting a gift is always nice, I definitely prefer spending the time choosing and wrapping presents that I know will put a smile on my loved one’s faces.
What is the best Christmas gift you’ve ever received?
I don’t really think there has been one. All of my Christmas gifts have been amazing and lovely and I appreciate each and every one. If I had to choose one that has really stood out the last couple of years, it would probably be the Kate Spade purse I received last Christmas because it had been on my wish list forever and it was a very lovely gift from my parents that I treat like a baby because it is so nice and *me*.
What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
Probably somewhere snowy and winter wonderland-like. I’ve heard about the Finland igloos you can watch the lights in, and I think that sounds like a very nice Christmas vacation if you ask me.
Are you a pro present wrapper, or do you fail miserably?
It depends on what I’m wrapping. A box – pro. A ball – fail.
Most memorable holiday moment?
Definitely seeing the Nutcracker during the holiday season every year growing up. Living far from the city I haven’t done it in a while, but I still have great memories of dressing up with my mom and watching ballet (I was a ballet nut as a kid) and just having this beautiful thing that my mom and I shared during the Christmas season. One of these years we’ll do it again, and I can’t wait!
What made you realize the truth about Santa?
Do you make New Years resolutions? Do you stick to them?
I do, but I tend to follow them during the summer. My goal was to start being healthier and lose some baby fat, and I started shopping smarter and lost 20 pounds. So, yes, I do make them, but I also believe that people should make lifestyle goals all year long because January 1st isn’t always the best time for a person.
What makes the holidays special for you?
Being surrounded by those I love and festive cheer. Those are two things I love that very rarely are put together. And during this time of the year I cherish being around all of it for a whole month long before things go back to normal.
What is something new happening this Christmas that you’re excited about?
Christmas with a new dog. Last January my parents bought a new puppy and while he’s much bigger now (he’s likely bigger than me) I am very interested to see how Coopey (as I fondly call Cooper) deals with a traditional Hegarty Christmas!
Have a safe and merry holiday season!
