Welcome Wednesdays 4: Your Girl Curlz

Everyday Enthusiasm Day 24: Welcome Wednesdays

Alex

Bonjour Enthusiasts! It is a Wednesday (and the first day in my new apartment) and while I go explore the complex, I thought I’d share with you some wise words from my dear friend Alex from Your Girl Curlz. Alex is a dear, dear friend of mine who I go on many adventures with (Utah|Seattle|Cali) and she has lots of insight, so having her write for the blog is great! I hope you’ll love what she has to say as much as I do, and you’ll give her lots of awesome feedback. Take it away, Alex!

Hola Enthusiasts! Alexandra Reyes is in the house so raise the roof! *raises the roof* Only joking. I hope it hasn’t been too long that you don’t remember me! But in case you have, here’s me in three words: curlz, loud, and fun. I am that one chica who did a guest post on Morgan’s fabulous blog back in February. Now I’m back again for her Everyday Enthusiasm Welcome Wednesday, and, man, am I happy about that! As one of my mottos being be strong, be brave, be you, the intention of this post is to bring up ones spirits amidst our daily commotions. I hope y’all enjoy reading this post as much as I enjoy eating hot Cheetos! -A

It’s Okay Not to Be Okay

To quote the Spice Girls, “Tell me what you want, what you really, really want.” Except, what if you don’t know what you want? What if you don’t think you’ll know what you want for a while? Well, I’m here to tell you that that’s okay. It’s okay to not know what you want. That’s inevitable, and frankly, it’s a part of life.

Life decisions can be, and generally are, somewhat difficult to make. For some people they are easy, for others not so much. It also depends on the situation. I think we can agree on the fact that deciding what you want to do for the rest of your life isn’t as mind boggling as choosing the toppings you want on your pizza. You don’t have to have the answer to everything and you most certainly do not have to have it all put together. Life is like a puzzle; you may have all the pieces, but sometimes you don’t know where they all go. So maybe you lost the first game of the season, you might have possibly received a text from a friend who just canceled plans after you had dropped everything to hang out with him/her, or maybe the bookstore just sold the last book you needed for the term and now you are being forced to purchase one off Amazon, which we all know will not get here in time for the first day of fall term.

*sigh*

There may be a chance not everyone knows exactly what you are going through and it may feel like the world is rapidly crashing down as we know it, but I’ve learned that having a little of optimism really does go a long way. I realize this is easier said than done, but how can you move forward and begin to make things okay if the only person in control of your life is down?

Always remember that things aren’t always as they seem. Just because you are having a rough time now doesn’t mean things will always stay this way. If we do not take things into perspective, what may seem like a ginormous problem could really be a minor one. Part of moving forward and toward the intended goal is trying to stay calm before getting ahead of ourselves.

Here are 6 ways to keep calm and try to carry on:

Numero Uno: Go to the roof a building and hit tennis balls down to the bottom (I’ve never actually done this before, but it looked really fun on 90210)

Numero Dos: Take up a yoga class. Yoga helps you connect with your inner self as you go through the poses and breathing techniques. That, and you can tell you friends you can do a gnarly warrior.

Numero Tres: Call your best friend. Chances are that although they haven’t gone through exactly what you’re experiencing they can still be an eager ear and listen.

Numero Cuatro: Scream into a pillow. This one I have tried and although it sounds completely ridiculous mostly because they show it in all the dramatic movies where the teenage girl doesn’t get her way, it actually helps relieve some of that stress.

Numero Cinco: Listen to music. I like, okay love, listening to Ed Sheeran. It’s probably getting to an unhealthy level. Something about his melodic voice and ginger hair has got my eyes and ears mesmerized.

Numero Seis: Sit down and have a chat with yourself. Focus on what you really want. Don’t worry about what everyone else wants from you. If you try to please other people you will soon find yourself in the same situation you were in before.

It’s more than okay to not know what you want. Questions leads to answers. Don’t put pressure on yourself, your time will come. Just remember to always be yourself and be honest with who you are. I hope these six tips will help in any future situations if need be. For the meantime, be strong, be brave, be you.

Let’s give it up for Alex! If you enjoyed this post, leave a comment below saying what you thought, or you can tweet her @alex_curlz. And if you liked her writing, you can follow her blog Your Girl Curlz. Yes, there is no writing now, but there will be and it will be lovely!

And if you liked this topic, here is a little picture that I found the other day that I think relates nicely: Image-1

I thought that this post was really lovely and definitely relatable to a lot of my followers, as a lot of you are always looking for answers about your life. But, as Alex says, you just have to let those frustrations out and know that one day everything will figure itself out. I wish you luck on your figuring-it-all-out endeavors.
