It’s time for my March guest post! I have been building up the excitement for this for a week or so now and I am so excited to finally share it! This month I am excited to bring you Haley from Her Mirror! Haley is a new friend on the blogging scene, but I have grown incredibly close to her in such a short time! She is my Blogging Little Sis and it’s been amazing working together with her on this post. You’ll learn quickly while reading this that we have a lot in common. I know you will all fall in love with her as you read, so make sure to leave her super sweet feedback! So, here’s Haley, the fabulous March guest blogger about to grace your screen!
My name is Haley Pereyo and I am very happy to be Teenage Enthusiasm’s guest blogger for the month of March! It’s truly an honor to be asked to write for this incredible blog. If you didn’t already know, Morgan is my BBS (Blogging Big Sis) and she’s become an incredible mentor to me even though we live on opposite coasts (I live on Long Island and she is Oregon).
I’m your not-so-typical 17-year-old teenage girl in a sense. I have strawberry blonde curly hair that I can never control. I’m obsessed with the Internet, my pets, going to concerts and Netflix just to name a few. I’m currently a Junior in High School and I am to my friends their so-called “therapist”. Just call me Dr.Haley, on call at any moment. I’m an extremely dedicated person. I also have a proclivity for being able to sense how someone is feeling. My mom calls me an “old soul.” I am an extremely private person for someone who shares his or her life on the Internet. With that being said, feel free to ask me anything about my post, my writing, and my life. I’m willing to be open with all of you lovely readers.
Just wrap this all off, I was hoping it would be okay to share with you one of my favorite quotes of all time. “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.” This quotes reminds me every day that I hold the reins to the sled of my future. Be you because you are incredible.
If you know me, you know that my life pretty much consists of the Internet. I have an addiction and I’m willing to admit that. I will openly admit most of the things I get enthused about are or involve the Internet. The Internet is a place to learn, grow and explore. It’s brought me to Teenage Enthusiasm and it’s allowed me to be enthused by so many unique things in this world.
Let’s start off with something that I know Morgan is also extremely enthused about as well, boy bands. One Direction & 5 Seconds of Summer are my natural go-to music lately. I find that even though these bands are “boy-bands” (5 Seconds of Summer are not a “boy band” in regards to the actual definition of boy bands, in my opinion and in the eyes of many others) per say they are a lot more than that. They are incredibly good-looking as well as kind-hearted guys who truly just want to make their fans smile. They have an air of optimism among their reputations that just makes them loveable by millions. The amount of fans they have who are truly dedicated to them just proves my point. Don’t get me wrong, they have their flaws (just like everyone else) but they do seem to have kind hearts in the end. I personally will listen to any of their music but my favorites include, “Wherever You Are” by 5SOS & “Does He Know?” by One Direction!
Along with the boy bands that stole my heart, a whole bunch of YouTubers have also taken a spot in a special place in my fangirl heart. For anyone who isn’t really sure what a YouTuber is, they are content creators on YouTube. Often for the more well known, being content creators on YouTube is their job. I became enthused, more like obsessed, with the community of YouTube about 3 years ago. My current loves on “The YouTube,” as my lovely Mom likes to call it, include Louise (Sprinkle of Glitter), Sawyer Hartman, Connor Franta & ThatcherJoe! Louise, Sawyer, Connor & Joe are just some of the people who make my fangirl heart strings play the melody of pure happiness. Watching YouTube is something I’m not only enthused about but something that truly has helped me through some of the hardest times in my life. It was an outlet for me to go to smile and laugh. I will never be able to thank the people I watch for helping me enough.
Just as YouTube helped me through some of the toughest times in my life, books have always been my other true love. I know that technically books aren’t from the Internet, but most of my favorite authors have an incredibly presence on social media. Examples include the infamous John Green, the lovely Meg Cabot and the talented Ally Carter. I get to learn more about the books I love straight from the source: The author. Many of my favorite authors also run their own blogs to keep the readers updated on the progress of new books or answer questions about their previous works. Books such as Struck By Lightening by Chris Colfer will forever be a book that has changed my life. By reading that book, I began to realize that being who you are is never a bad thing. The main character in the book, Carter, is driven. Does he always handle situations, right? No, but when does anyone? That’s something I learned, I can make mistakes and just learn from them. I’ve always been an avid reader and it’s been my love for many years now. The Internet just allows me to become even more enthralled by the characters, authors and concepts of the books I cherish.
The Internet has also allowed me to be enthused by the many people I met online. I met Morgan through Twitter and couldn’t be happier because I now look up to her like a mentor. She’s my BBS (Blogging Big Sis) and I love it. The Internet made it so that even though the two of us live on different sides of the country we can still communicate with ease. She’s given me an incredible opportunity to guest write on her blog. Thank you Morgan! The Internet is something I’m enthusiastic about and it gave me the opportunity to become enthralled with so many other incredible parts of life. So, thank you Internet.
