I have been very sick today and have been repeating, “Lying on the cold, hard ground…throwing up!” since 8 o’clock this morning. The most effort I’ve put into anything today was moving from my bed to my couch so I could watch six hours of Bones. Yes Morgan, you are a productive individual.
To the point. My illness has made me so exhausted that I was having trouble really focusing on any certain topic. So I decided to make it easier on myself (because we all need a break every once in a while) and answer your questions for me! I was nominated for the Leibster Award by A Sign Of Life (please go check her out!) and decided to answer the questions she left me (I’m sorry that I don’t usually do awards as I find them a hassle with all the steps even though I am honored to be nominated.) I then asked you all to send me questions via Twitter and email. So let’s see what you got!
1. Do you draft your posts and rewrite, or do you go with the first thing you type down and wing it?
It depends on how forethought goes into the post. I usually have an idea and then write a post and edit then publish it. But if I have the idea a few days before I want to post, I’ll write it and then re-write it on the day I am posting.
2. What do you find attractive in the opposite gender?
Characteristically: Humor. Guys with great humor are the most attractive of the entire gender.
Physically: Dimples. I love me a good dimple. They attract me like magnets.
3. If you could bring any mythical creature to life, which one would it be? Why?
A satyr. Mr. Tumnus was just too cute!
4. Who was your favorite pet?
My dog Dutch. If you don’t know, he passed on last July. He was my best friend for 13 years and I wouldn’t have given him up for anything. He was the most patient dog ever and I grew up with him. I miss him more than I can ever express. Rest in peace buddy, you deserve it.
5. If you could be anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
London. I’ve been obsessed with the UK since I was 12. The culture, the people, the architecture, all of it fascinates me and I really want to travel to London where I can experience some of it. And stalk attractive British boys.
6. If you were about to die and only had time to make one phone call, who would you call and what would you say?
My brother. It’d be impossible to choose between my parents, so I’d call my brother. In the last few months my brother and I have been connecting more (probably due to it being my last few months at home) and I would call him and tell him how much I love him and how proud I am of him for all that he’s done. He truly is one of the most amazing people I know and I am so honored to call him my own flesh and blood.
7. What is your favorite song at the moment?
‘Sweet Sweet Melody’ by Katie Sky
8. Which movie/television character influenced your life for the better? Why?
Rory Gilmore. Not only is Gilmore Girls one of my favorite shows for it’s wit and great storylines, but Rory always made me want to accomplish more, to be smarter, to reach for the highest shelf. She has the same aspirations as me, journalism, and I guess I wanted to have that same standard of academic excellence that she did.
9. Tea or coffee?
10. If you had to be allergic to one thing, what would it be?
Melted cheese. I hate the texture and I’d like a better reason than “It feels weird” when I decline it.
11. What is something you wish you could do over?
Friendships. I was always so lost as a kid because I moved so often and whenever I started somewhere new I grabbed onto the first group that would take me. I didn’t have standards or anything to really go by. Now I know more about myself and what I look for in a friendship, so I wish I could go through grades 1-10 and find friends that I was more compatible with.
12. Logan Lerman or Finn Harries?
Not going to lie, this question took me the longest to answer. You’ve named two people who are completely my type. I’ve spent about ten minutes now trying to make a decision. I’m going to have to say…………………………………Finn Harries! Because the only thing he has that Logan Lerman doesn’t have is a British accent.
13. What is your biggest pet peeve?
Ringtones that do not match their owners. Like when you walk by an old lady and you hear “I’m A Barbie Girl” and suddenly realize it is the old lady’s ringtone. It’s really irritating!!
14. What’s the most memorable event that happened in the last year?
Making two music videos with my friends. The several hours we spend filming the videos are so much fun and a lot of my favorite moments come from them. I know it says event but both videos are special in my heart. I’m so lucky to have friends who are so exuberant and outgoing. They made my Senior year memorable. The two videos we did (let’s say hoorah for my new-found editing skills!) are below:
15. Who is your ideal roommate?
My best friend Katy. We don’t get sick of each other and co-exist really well. We both do chores and are respectful of other people and would not have roommate fights at all. Next to her, I’d have to say my friend Miranda. And if she joins me at school next year, we’re going to be roommates because what am I going to do without her to smack me with notebooks all day? Plus, they are both lovely people and are low maintenance (aka, easy to live with).
16. What is your passion?
Writing. Aka, this here blog. Aka, the adolescent fiction I used to write. Aka, the journal I carried with me everywhere in elementary school.
I just really like words and sentences and the clever ways you can combine them.
17. Why is your best friend your best friend
Katy (this girl) is my best friend because we click in this amazing way. I never have to twist or bend myself to fit her mood. She supports me in my toughest times. She laughs at me when I’m being ridiculous. She’s this ball of energy and childishness and laughter and it draws me in. It is all started last year when we went for lunch just for the heck of it, but it’s turned into this friendship where I feel so connected to her because I don’t get bored of her. She knows exactly what I like and we tend to latch onto each other’s interests. She gets me and I get her and I’m just lucky to have her in my life. She’s one of the people in my support system and I’m so thankful.
18. Favorite item of clothing in your closet?
My polka-dot chambray shirt. I’m basically addicted to it.
19. If you could do-over any post of yours, which one would it be?
I’m not going to answer this, as I am actually doing over a post on May 25, 2013, so please check back for that to answer this question. I’m really excited for the do-over!
20. Why are you so adamantly anti-bully?
You are probably referring to my last tweet.
I was bullied a lot of my childhood and well into my high school years. Bullying is something I’ve had to try so hard to overcome. It can come from your friends, your enemies, even strangers on the street. And it makes you build these walls that you hide behind and you don’t want to be yourself because you are terrified of more people treating you like your tormentors. Even now I am still tearing down my walls, trying to be comfortable with people, and I’m 18 years old. Bullying can ruin a person forever and being a personal victim of it, I will do anything to stop it.
21. Which book character did you feel you had strong connection with or could relate to very well?
I really felt that I connected with Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series when I was younger. Hermione was always teased for being smart and eager and having a constant want for education. I was very similar as a child and understood her really well. There was a point in middle school where I really wanted to be Hermione because I felt like I was her, minus the wand and robes.
22. Favorite thing about blogging?
Meeting my readers! In the last year my subscriber rate has gone up so dramatically (in three weeks I’ve gained 70+ subscribers) and getting to communicate and learn what you all think of my writing has been some of the best moments of my life. Thank you for reading! I can’t express my gratitude.
23. What keeps you strong?
Knowing I’m loved. It’s days like today where I was bedridden and sickly and having my friends text me with words of love and pictures made me swell with love because I know there is a group of people who support me no matter what. Same goes for my family. Knowing that there are people who love me is what keeps me going when times are tough.
P.S. Thank you to everyone who sent me questions! I love answering them!
P.P.S. Shout out to my friends for occupying me all day. You guys make being sick worth it!
