Look What I Drew!

This week in math I received probably the most unconventional math project ever assigned. It was to draw.

The assignment was to recreate a picture of your choosing onto a larger piece of paper to show ratio. It took me four days to grid the original picture, grid the larger piece of paper, recreate the picture onto the larger paper, outline, erase, and color. It was a lot of work.

Now, I’m incredibly proud of this project. And by incredibly, I mean I am so blown away I can’t comprehend it at all! I’m not very artistic, especially since when I was in fourth-grade my art teacher told me I couldn’t draw. She squashed every ounce of me wanting to be an artist. So, I’ve never really considered the field and have avoided it at all costs. However, since I’ve done this assignment, art isn’t as terrifying as I once thought it.

Here is the computer-created, original picture, which is from my favorite film of all time, Peter Pan.

Seems like a pretty difficult drawing, right? It was pretty tough for my non-artistically-inclined hands. Want to see the finished product?

Blows your mind, huh?!? I actually had a friend who wanted to have it. My plan is to color the background and have it framed as the first piece of art I’ve done as a young adult that I am really proud of.

What’s something you’ve done recently that you’ve been really proud of? I’d love to hear!

Have a super great weekend everyone!

P.S. Is there a subject that you’ve been waiting for me to talk about? If so, please e-mail me! I love to talk about what you guys care about, so send me a message at mo425@q.com!

  1. A year back when I tried to solve the Rubik’s Cube, I failed miserably. I got some help from YouTube (and a guy named Dan Brown (not the Da Vinci Code writer (brackets inside brackets, I wonder what it means(this is getting weird (by the way, a period inside brackets means you don’t have to give one after all the brackets (grammar rules for the win.))))))

When I actually finished solving the Rubik’s Cube, that was one of the proudest moments of my life. You should give it a try if you haven’t already. It’s not that hard, and it’s a good addiction. Plus it makes you look cooler (not the water dispenser(just saying))
