Ode to Family

Okay, so this isn’t really an ode (considering my rhyming ability ranges from cat to bat) but it is about my family. I was so lucky this weekend to be able to see some of my beloved family, some of whom I have not seen since I was a wee child.

Sometimes I forget what an amazing family God blessed me with. I mean it. Being dragged to reunions and dinner parties and holidays by my parents makes me think of family as just an obligation that you are stuck with until you die. Then I get to spend time with these people who I have history with, who love me unconditionally, and who are just fascinating people who I not only share a name with, but shared interests in different subjects.

My time with my family was short, which was unfortunate, but the time I did get to spend with them was special. I got to know some family with whom I’ve not really had the chance to know since I developed a mature mind. And moments like those…moments like those are priceless.

God blessed me with one of the best families on Earth. He gave me a family that is loving and goofy, that knows how to have a good time, and that sticks with each other through the best and the worst. I would not be the person I am today without my loving support system. And since I know you all are reading this (because you’re my family and subscribed because you are so great), I just wanted to say how lovely it is to have you in my life. I am truly blessed.

Have a great Easter everyone and enjoy the family time. Maybe share some Easter traditions in the comments?
